Why does this not fetch URLs directly?
Browser tools cannot reliably fetch arbitrary pages, headers, robots.txt, and canonicals because of CORS and security restrictions. This tool is designed for pasted crawler or Search Console rows, which is more reliable for bulk QA.
Should every page self-canonical?
Most indexable canonical pages should self-reference, but deliberate canonicalization is valid for duplicate or parameter URLs. The report flags conflicts so you can decide intentionally.
